mitchell report rocks baseball
12/13/07former senator george mitchell’s report (link for actual report here) on steroid use in major league baseball was released today and implicated a gaggle of high profile players. among the biggest names are roger clemens, andy pettitte and miguel tejada and they are among a small percentage that have witnesses testify against them. much of the report, while certainly compelling, contains a lot of circumstantial evidence. i haven’t read it from start to finish, but what i have seen shows a lot of checks written to kirk rodamski, the former mets clubhouse attendant who claims to have been a major supplier. again, circumstantially theres a lot that makes you shake your head. legally, though it seems a bit weak. i’m no lawyer of course, but i do know allegations hold a lot more weight with facts and witnesses not hearsay. either way, we all know steroids and performance enhancing drugs are a big deal in all sports. hopefully, if nothing else, this will generate a positive dialogue about what to do. stay tuned sports fans.

Former senator, George Mitchell, but ACTIVE director of the Boston Red Sox. You decide. That’s why they call it Conflict-of-Interest.
