the overnight work shift is about to be labeled as a cause of cancer. i have no idea about that but i do know working the graveyard bites. i’ve done it and won’t ever do it again.

funny how the so called freedom lovers who support the actions of this administration rarely raise an eyebrow when bush + company do everything to erode the constitution they say they so dearly love. here’s a nice little article on a dept. of homeland security scheme to turn firefighters into domestic spies for the government asking them to report people who possess material or express opinions of an un-american nature. nice, considering firefighters and paramedics don’t need search warrants to poke around peoples property. that is lovely if you hate the 1st and 4th amendments. keith olbermann discusses.

it’s hard to keep up with all the slimey connections and news that drips off the giuliani campaign and the hits keep on coming. politico has a broke a story about der rudy’s using tax payer dollars to finance his extra marital affair with his now third wife judith nathan. anderson cooper raised it briefly in last nights debate on cnn and rudy claimed it was all legit and simply expenses for “security”, that he had nothing to do with how it was billed but he’s quite sure it was legit. sure. whatever you say rudy. i think he defended his buddy bernie kerik as a legit stand up guy at one point too. what a guy.

that this moron gets a book at the top of the new york times best seller list is a sad statement on the book buying public at large. it boggles the mind that people want to hear more from the dough boy who demanded rep. keith ellison prove he’s not a terrorist because he’s a muslim, compared al gore to a nazi for speaking out on global warming and was happy people were losing thier homes in the latest so cal wildfires because they hated america in his view, among other ridiculous, bigoted statements that spew out of his pie hole on a daily basis. don’t people get enough of this lame ass, chicken shit talk from the o’riellys, limbaugh’s, et al of the world? apparently not. a good portion of our neighbors are apparently scared of boogeymen in caves and that spanish is fast becoming the new official language of the united states and that civility in debate is a joke. glenn beck is a poster boy for all that’s wrong with american discourse these days. he’s a moron and anyone who buys his book is too.

a judge in niagra falls, new york went crazy when someones phone went off in his court. after nobody took responsibility for the ringing phone, the judge had the bailiffs put 46 people in jail over the incident. he admitted later that he over reacted and was under stress in his personal life. i’d hate to be tried by that guy for anything.

blackwater: guards only use flaxseed oil

 

blackwater, the controversial private security firm in iraq, is denying not only allegations that their employees are committing systematic premeditated murder, but that they are also steroid users. company officials claim they subject the employees to regular drug testing and that any illegal or legal performance enhancing drugs are against company policy. call me crazy, but i don’t find it a big stretch of the imagination to consider that a gaggle of mercenaries in a country with no laws, that are armed to teeth and are basically unaccountable for any of their actions are being drug tested and that if they are that they would be fired. blackwater doesn’t fire them for killing innocent people, why would they over something like drug use?

the la times has some really powerful images of the war wounded. they do a really good job providing photography series in general and it’s always worth the time to tool around the site and check it out.

there is some good news!

as pointed out, the last few days worth of postings all had a somewhat morbid underlying theme. it was coincidental but i agree we need something to remind us life is good, which it is. evidence follows. enjoy.

the legendary jimi hendrix would have turned 65 today. it boggles the mind to think what type of music he would have continued to create had he not died so young considering how influential he was in his short time on earth. still, he left behind an amazing catalog of work that stil sounds fresh and relevant today as it did when it first came out.
